About Professional Development

Little Angel Theatre has an unrivalled reputation for producing innovative, captivating and popular puppetry productions and working with the cream of puppetry talent. Through our Professional Development courses, we open our doors to share our skills, expertise – and some secrets – in the unique surroundings of our Creative Learning Centre or the Little Angel Theatre Workshop.

We offer a range of training opportunities throughout the year for creative professionals at different levels in their career development. From talks and masterclasses, to one day workshops to week long intensive courses, our training is designed to provide inspiration and skills development at accessible and value for money prices.

Some courses require existing skills, some are master classes and some are open to beginners. There are courses for those wishing to develop skills in specialist aspects of puppetry and others which are suited to creative professionals from associated industries such as theatre, animation and film. Our training opportunities can also be useful for teachers, workshop leaders, educationalists and therapists.

Feedback From Some of our Recent Professional Development Courses:

Clear explanations and demonstrations of techniques meant that I left the workshop with the confidence to explore these techniques in future.
It was a great idea to spend the second day creating a short performance as a way to experiment with what we had learnt and being able to check in with Steve as questions and challenges came up through our projects was really useful.

…It was excellent – a perfect mix of intellectual theory and practical exercises. The pace was perfect. Rene is a wonderful facilitator of learning: so patient, warm and interested.

The demonstrations and the support throughout, the course was just excellent. I learnt a lot from seeing the puppets that were being made along side mine too.

This was a really fun workshop, with a great tutor who really knows his puppets. The level of teaching vs self initiated exploration was perfect, even for a novice like me. Very good value for money and would highly recommend! Thanks Oli and thanks Little Angel!

I really enjoyed the course and am delighted with my robot man puppet. I can’t believe that I ended up with a complete puppet of such quality and I now have the confidence and understanding to give making a second puppet at home a go. My thanks to John for his teaching, patience and puppet making secrets and to the Little Angel for running such a brilliant and useful course!
