Evening Classes for Adults - NEW TERM NOW OPEN FOR BOOKING

Adult Beginners Course
This is a puppetry course for all those who are interested in learning basic puppetry skills.  Designed for absolute beginners, it is open to all those who have always wanted to have a go at puppetry but never had the opportunity to do so.  Working with professional puppeteer Chloe Purcell, you will explore a variety of different puppet forms and learn the basics of puppet manipulation. This term also features guest tutors who will give a beginners guide to their specialist puppetry skills. There will also be a simple puppet making opportunity.  This course includes a show visit followed by a post-show chat with the puppeteers and backstage tour.
Dates and times:  Tuesday evenings, 7.30 - 9.30 pm
Starts Tuesday 28th September - Tuesday 7th December (no class 26th Oct ½ term)
Cost:
  £160 per person/£110 concession holder

Adult Puppet Makers Course
This is a puppetry course for all those who are interested in developing puppetry making skills.  Designed for people who have attended Beginners Club or who have a strong desire to explore puppet making in more detail.  This term participants will make a rod puppet with a moving mouth mechanism, it's a mixed media puppet made using polystyrene, Styrofoam, wood and milliput. The human figure puppet consists of a head with moving mouth controlled by a simple trigger, a shoulder section, arms & hands controlled by rods, the body & legs can be suggested by costume.  You will work with professional puppet maker Chloe Purcell to create your puppet.  This course includes a show visit followed by a post-show chat with the puppeteers and backstage tour.

Adult Puppet Performers Course - Glove and Table Top

This is a puppetry course for all those who are interested in developing puppetry performance skills.  Designed for people who have attended Beginners Club or have some performing experience and a strong desire to explore performing with puppets.  This term participants will learn the art of performing with glove and table top puppets.  The Tutor this term will be renowned Puppeteer Ronnie Le Drew (as well as featuring in many Little Angel productions his credits include Zippy from Rainbow, Muppet Movies and television commercials including the recent Diet Coke adverts).  Participants on the course will not only learn new skills but will be supported in creating a short piece of theatre using the techniques learnt.  The term will culminate in a showcase performance for friends and family.  This course also includes a show visit followed by a post-show chat with the puppeteers and backstage tour.

Professional Training for Puppeteers and Practitioners:

Vocal Technique for Puppeteers

Tutor: Natalie Raybould

This three-hour workshop will explore combining puppetry with the voice, whether spoken, sung, or characterised. Natalie Raybould is an opera singer and vocal coach with puppetry experience, most recently in Little Angel/Polka Theatre’s co-production “Skitterbang Island”. 

Natalie will guide you in strengthening your vocal capabilities, and then applying these techniques in a puppeting arena. All abilities welcome.
Please prepare a short extract, either sung or spoken, to work on during the afternoon.

Date: Saturday 2nd October, 2-5pm

Cost: £20 (max 8 participants)
