We'll Come To You

Choose from three different 1 day puppet making workshops which give pupils the following D&T study skills - investigating, designing, making and evaluating.  You can also use the puppets you have made to link in with other areas of the curriculum and create performances after we have gone:

Shadow Puppets - Exploring Light and Shadows

Learn techniques for making a variety of shadow puppets and use the puppets you make to explore shadow and light in performance, linking in with aspects of the science curriculum.  We can work around a theme or story of your choice if suitable.  This workshop is delivered over one day with either one class (a whole day exploring making, light and shadow and performing) or two classes (half a day each making shadow puppets). (Suitable for all ages)

Table Top Puppets - Supporting Literacy

We can work with your class for a day to create beautiful puppets based on traditional fairy tales, e.g. Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood. Designing and making these puppets allows pupils to explore character description and design, giving opportunities for writing inspired by the characters they have created.  Once we have gone use the puppets to re-tell the story, put the characters into new situations, make alternative versions and explore the story and characters more deeply.  Not only will using their puppets create opportunities for speaking and listening activities but also inspires writing (ideas for how these can be developed supplied as part of booking a workshop).

NEW THIS SEASON:  Bespoke workshops using favourite classroom texts.  Let us know if you are studying a particular text and we will help you create puppets with the pupils to enhance your teaching and exploration of the text.

(Suitable for Year One to Year Six)

Table Top Puppets - Teaching History Through Puppetry

Create puppets themed around history topics covering both D&T and history.  By designing and making puppets pupils engage in exploring the clothing worn, famous historical characters from the time and beliefs and lifestyle.  Choose from Ancient Egypt (Gods and Goddesses), Romans (Entertainment), Tudors (Famous Tudors) and Victorians (Comparing rich and poor).  As well as working with your class for a day to make their historical puppets we supply materials and suggestions for how you can then use the puppets to enhance your history teaching and exploration of the topic.

COST: £350+VAT per class per day (standard worskhops as described above)

£450+VAT per class per day (bespoke literacy workshop on your own chosen text).  Travel and accomodation may be charged for bookings outside London.
