Children's Puppet Festival 2025

We’re thrilled to welcome you back to our award-winning Children’s Puppet Festival this August 2025! Now in its third year, the festival has grown into a summer favourite for young audiences since its launch in 2022, where it proudly received a special “one-off” Offie Award at the Off West End Awards.

This year, we’re excited to showcase inventive and imaginative puppetry from eight brilliant companies – including, for the first time, an international guest all the way from Australia! Alongside the performances, we’re offering a vibrant mix of adult workshops, family workshops, and our ever-popular Playcations.

Join us as we celebrate the magical art of puppetry in all its forms!

Week 1

28th July – 3rd August

Family Workshop - Ice Screams!

Dates: 2nd – 3rd August
For ages 3 – 6

Join us in the where we will be making ice-cream and ice-lolly puppets to take home. Will yours be a Nobbly-Bobbly, a Twister or just Fab?

Week 2

 4th – 10th August

Playcation - Summer Camp

Dates: 5th – 8th August
For ages 5 – 9

Calling all young campers with big imaginations! In this summer camp-inspired adventure, we will craft, create, and perform with puppets.

Production - Shoe Baby

A Long Nose Puppets production 
Dates: 8th – 10th August
For ages 2 – 5

A magical puppet show! A fantastical sing-a-long adventure with a baby who takes to the sea, the air, the zoo all in a shoe! Can you spot an octopus, some greedy giraffes or a pink cockatoo?

Family Workshop - BUGS!

Dates: 9th – 10th August
For ages 3 – 6

Crawl into a world of creativity. In this interactive workshop, your child will have the chance to create their very own bug puppet!

Week 3

 11th – 17th August

Production - Tales from the Lighthouse

A Little Seeds Music and League Of Curiosity production
Dates: 15th – 17th August
For ages 5 – 11 

Families and children are invited on a voyage of music, puppetry and storytelling, as a mysterious stranger helps a lonely lighthouse keeper re-discover the magic, beauty and power of the sea that surrounds his home.

Production - The Tortoise and the Firefly

Dates: 15th – 17th August
For ages 3 – 8

Inspired by African folktales, The Tortoise and the Firefly is a vibrant journey through East African forests. Featuring puppetry, music, and storytelling it is a thoughtful tale of unexpected friendship, community and belonging. 

Week 4

Production - Make You LOL!

A production by The Listies
Dates: 19th – 21st August
For ages 5 – 11

The Listies are rolling into London with their toilet-paper cannons locked and loaded, fresh from conquering their twelfth Edinburgh Fringe. Gratuitous, ridiculous, joyous, and always hilarious, The Listies are Australia’s maestros of kidult comedy.

Production - The Pigeon and the Peacock

A production by Miranda Lewis-Brown and Feathered Fables Theatre
Dates: 19th – 21st August
For ages 5 – 11

Pigeon wants to share his poetry talent with the world, but he is laughed at by the other birds. They all, however, love the peacock just for his flamboyant feathers! How will Pigeon win the birds over and follow his dreams?

Playcation - Planes, Trains & Automobiles

Dates: 19th – 20th August
For ages 5 – 9

All aboard for a high-flying, fast-driving, and track-racing adventure! In this exciting puppet workshop we will create transportation-themed puppets and set off on a journey of creativity and imagination!

Playcation - Under the Sea

Dates: 21st – 22nd August
For ages 5 – 9

Grab your scuba gear and lets dive, under the sea! Bring ocean friends to life while exploring textures, colours, and movement.

Production - Hickory Dickory Dock

A production by Garlic Theatre
Dates: 22nd – 24th August
For ages 3 – 8

When the Mouse Clock breaks, a brave little mouse escapes! Meanwhile, Mrs Hickory receives a mysterious, squeaky delivery. With glove puppets, slapstick chaos, and a race against time, this joyful show brings music, mayhem, and one very memorable clock.

Production - The Elves and the Shoe Maker

Mr. Shooz’s business is failing, until mysterious midnight cobblers create magical shoes for him. A heartwarming puppet-filled adventure for all ages!

Playcation - Safari

Dates: 26th – 27th August
For ages 5 – 9

With their handcrafted puppets and explorer gear, they’ll embark on an exciting journey, using their imaginations to tell stories about life in the wilderness.

Production - Escape from the Bubble Tub!

A production by Paris Bubbles
Dates: 30th – 31st August
For ages 3 – 8

Join Bubbles on a globe-trotting puppet adventure filled with bubble volcanoes, jellyfish, and magic. Fun, wonder, and laughter for all!

Bridges of Wisdom

Bridges of Wisdom

Bridges of Wisdom is an interactive, practical storytelling training programme for those working with children in the early years. In a fast-paced, screen-filled world, many children, and adults, are struggling to slow down, connect and create together. Combining the art of oral storytelling with insights from child development, this 5-part immersive course running on 26 April / 29 April / 6 May / 13 May / 16 May - invites participants to explore boundaries, repetition, imitation, daily senses, gestures and environment.
