The Everywhere Bear has a wonderful time with the children in Class One, but one day he gets more than he bargained for when he falls unnoticed from a backpack and embarks on his own big adventure! He’s washed down a drain and whooshed out to sea, rescued by a seagull…how will he ever make it back to Class One?

This captivating and beautiful story from best-selling author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Rebecca Cobb springs to life with rhyme, original music and delightfully expressive puppets in our fun and exciting stage adaption.

Please be aware that this production contains gentle flashing lights to indicate lightning in a storm at sea, but no strobe lighting.

Age Guidance

The Everywhere Bear is aimed at ages 3 – 8. Our shows for this age group have storylines that can be followed and enjoyed by 3-4-year olds, but may also use slightly more complex ideas, humour, dialogue or song lyrics that older children will get more out of. There is nothing really scary in these shows but they can be a bit more dramatic than those for the youngest children, including in their use of sound and lighting, and characters may face some perils.

How will we be seated?

This show has standard theatre seating – rows of benches facing the stage. There will be up to 90 people watching the show (sometimes more if you come when there are school groups).

Can children join in?

This isn’t an interactive show, but we always welcome vocal responses from young audiences, and you can join in by clapping along to the songs. The audience stay in their seats while watching, but you can leave and re-enter the auditorium at any time.

Is there anything that might be scary?

When the Everywhere Bear gets lost, he falls down a drain and we see an animation of him going down the drain into the sea. The theatre gets darker and there is a storm, with some loud noises of rain and thunder, and flashing lights. His adventures also include being thrown in a bin and taken to a rubbish dump, but he is of course rescued and reunited with the children at the end.

Should I bring a child under three?

All ages are welcome at our shows and age ranges can only be a rough guide, but please bear in mind that The Everywhere Bear was not specially designed for under-threes. A show aimed at two-year olds would have some differences – those shows are carefully made to hold their attention for the duration, and not to be unsettling for them.

What can I use to prepare my child or help decide if the show is right for them?

The show is based on the book The Everywhere Bear by Julia Donaldson.
