  • Translating your design from paper to three-dimensional form
  • Jointing and mechanics
  • Stringing and operating

Please note: due to the intensive nature of this course, not all students will be able to complete their marionettes within the 5 days. However, Oliver will ensure you have all the skills and materials needed to complete your puppets at home.

About Oliver

Oliver is Associate Artist at Little Angel Theatre and has been working with puppetry for nearly 15 years. A QEST Scholar (Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust) specialising in Marionette Making, he trained with some of the last remaining marionette makers in the UK, including Lyndie Wright MBE, John Roberts (Puppet Craft UK) and Stephen Mottram.

In 2023 he worked closely with Heritage Craft and the wider puppetry community to have Marionette Making added to the Red List of Endangered Crafts. In recognition for this work and for his commitment to keeping the artform alive, he was a 2023 finalist for Woodworker of the Year.

One place on this course will be offered for free as a bursary.
