Join Designer Sam Wilde and Director Ian Nicholson (I Want My Hat Back Trilogy) on their next cardboard adventure – BOXVILLE – using their trademark sustainable cardboard puppet style you can venture with us into BOXVILLE, a land made entirely from sustainable cardboard!
Work with the BOXVILLE engineers to craft-a-long and build your way through the story, meeting paper dragons, corrugated pirates and cardboard space robots in this stem skilled, hands on, interactive, time travel adventure!

Boxville is aimed at ages 4-8. The storytelling and the crafting activity, using tools, will be best enjoyed by children of this age working together with their adults. Under-4s may not get so much out of the experience.
About the company
Sam Wilde – Designer and Co Director
Sam Wilde is a Multi Award Winning Set, Costume, and Puppetry Designer based in Bristol. He was the winner of the TYA: Design Offie in 2023 and a finalist for TYA: Writer for his work on The I Want My Hat Back Trilogy. He is the founder and designer behind CardboardAdventures.co.uk and was listed on The Stage 100 list for 20/21 for his work during the pandemic. He was the 2016/17 Laboratory Set and Costume Designer at Nuffield theatres, Southampton.
He also won the Paper episode of Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas on Channel Four in 2022.

Ian Nicholson – Co Director
Ian trained as a director at the National Theatre Studio, Central School of Speech and Drama and École Philippe Gaulier.
In 2021, he was listed in The Stage 100 of the most influential artists for his work for children and families.
He is the director of the award-winning I Want My Hat Back Trilogy, recommended by Time Out in a five-star review. The production began life as a series of online digital productions for Little Angel Theatre during the pandemic lockdowns, and we’re described as an “a shining example of the resourcefulness of artists and performers in these difficult times” in the Metro. These videos were watched 300,000 times on YouTube in over 50 countries.
He has also directed for the National Theatre, Unicorn Theatre, Polka Theatre, Little Angel Theatre, and English Touring Opera.
His work has featured on the BBC, in the New York Times, Guardian, The Stage and the Metro.

Jam-packed with shows and workshops for all the family and adults too!
We are delighted to announce the return of our Children’s Puppet Festival which will take place across both Little Angel venues this summer from 2 August – 1 September 2024. The vibrant programme will showcase a broad range of puppetry by the most exciting UK and international companies currently making theatre for young audiences.
There will also be plenty of opportunities for everyone to take part, with workshops for families, community events, fun days for children and courses for adults to try out the craft of puppetry.
